About

Welcome to The Pottery Garden, where clay transforms into beauty and whimsy! I’m Susan Norcross, the potter and creative force behind each piece you’ll find here. It is my joy to create beautiful functional pots for your home and garden spaces. My journey in ceramics began with my first lessons at the Worcester Center for Crafts, where I discovered a true passion for pottery. I've honed my craft at places like the Danforth Museum School and IS183 Art School of the Berkshires, where I developed my style and began mixing my own glazes.

In 2018, I had the privilege of studying at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts under renowned potter Michael Kline. It was a transformative experience that deepened my skills in inlay and surface decoration, inspiring creativity with the natural beauty around me.

By day, I am a Physician Assistant specializing in surgery, where I use a similar set of skills—using my hands with precision and a soft touch. These tactile skills seem to translate so easily to the potter’s wheel, blending my two passions into one fulfilling, joyful journey.

I am passionate about teaching pottery to both children and adults, guiding aspiring potters through a three-session private introductory course in wheel throwing clay, designed for 1-2 students. It's such a joy to share the magic of clay, and watch that spark of creativity come alive!
